Personal Biography

My name is Jordan Schneider (CJK: 葉凱盛; zh-Latn: Yeh Kai-sheng; ja-Latn: Yo Kaisei), but you can also call me Kai for short. I’m a researcher exploring how physiological signals can be used to build assistive systems that adapt to the user’s psychological state in real time. I’m currently pursuing a cooperative doctorate between the University of Augsburg and Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, where I’m developing a system to assist individuals with cognitive impairments in supported work environments. My research interests include physiological computing, information fusion, artificial intelligence and human–robot interaction.

I hold a master’s degree in mechatronics engineering and a bachelor’s degree in electrical systems, both from the University of Melbourne. During my undergraduate studies, I was awarded a New Colombo Plan Scholarship to undertake an exchange to National Taiwan University. Before the doctorate, I was employed in the medical technology industry and worked on devices such as neurostimulators, myoelectric prostheses and automatic injectors.

I am also engaged in the free software movement and maker movement, and I enjoy experimenting with different technologies in my homelab. I have a passion for linguistics and can speak several languages, including English, German, Chinese and Japanese. In my spare time, I like to play Go to sharpen my strategic thinking.
